L-LEUCINE

  • Description:

    A white crystalline powder.
  • Indications & Prescribability:

    For use as a supplement in the dietary management of Maple Syrup Urine Disease (MSUD), or other conditions requiring L-Leucine.

  • Suggested Intake:

    The recommended dosage of L-Leucine is dependent on the age, bodyweight and medical condition of the patient, and should be determined by a dietitian or doctor only.

  • Preparation & Administration:

    L-Leucine can be used to supplement both sip and tube feeds.  Approximately 2g L-Leucine dissolves in 100mls of water at 20C.  It can be added directly to liquid formulae.  For powdered formulae, L-Leucine is best added to the powder before reconstitution.

  • Precautions:

    Must only be used under strict medical supervision.  Not intended for use as the sole source of nutrition.  Not for parenteral use.

  • Storage:

    Store in a cool, dry place.  Once opened, use within one month.
